2020 ITA Vendor Showcase Canceled

Virtual Annual Meeting of the Members & Industry Update Sept. 10

We regret to inform you that the fall ITA Vendor Showcase scheduled for September 9-11 in East Peoria has been canceled. Unfortunately, it isn't possible to host an in-person event due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We will continue planning for great events in 2021 with the hope that we will be able to resume large group gatherings and conferences next year. Thank you to all who responded to our survey regarding the fall Vendor Showcase and our virtual Annual Convention webinar series. We appreciate your feedback.

Please save the date of September 10 for the ITA Annual Meeting of the Members and Industry Update. This event will be held virtually as a Zoom meeting and we hope you will be able to join us. We will have more information on the agenda and time of the event soon. In the meantime, stay safe and feel free to contact us any time with questions, concerns or telecom and broadband issues.

Regulatory Update

ICC Approves Petition for Waiver to Print and Distribute Customer Directories

The Illinois Commerce Commission approved a petition submitted by 24 local exchange carriers for a waiver from the requirement to print and distribute customer directories in Docket 20-0521. The Commission Order issued June 30 found that that the waiver would not harm customers and would not impede the development or operation of a competitive market.

The Commission Order approved the petition for the waiver with the following steps proposed by the LEC's to control the transition from saturation delivery of a paper directory to an on-line version of the directory:

  • Petitioning LEC shall file notices of Saturation Delivery Termination. The Petitioning LEC shall notify the Commission through a compliance report submitted in this docket within 90 days of Petitioning LEC’s decision to cease saturation delivery in a market. The notice shall include:
    • The date the decision to cease saturation delivery in the market was made (which should be considered the date that starts the 36 month on request commitment in Petitioning LEC’s proposal)
    • A description of the affected area (market) that includes a list of each zip code included therein
    • The total number of directories delivered in the affected area in the last saturation delivery prior to the date the decision was made to cease saturation delivery
  • Petitioning LEC shall file notices of On-Request Delivery Termination. The Petitioning LEC shall notify the Commission in this docket through a compliance report submitted in this docket within 90 days of when it ceases offering on-request delivery in a market. The notice shall include:
    • The date upon which On-Request Delivery was stopped
    • A description of the affected area (market) that includes a list of each zip code included therein
    • The date upon which Petitioning LEC filed a notice of Saturation Delivery Termination for the area with the Commission
    • The number of annual requests for paper directory deliveries in the twelve-month period immediately preceding the date that Petitioning LEC ceased offering upon request deliveries
  • Timely Delivery: The Petitioning LEC shall process requests for directories in a timely manner. In particular, the Petitioning LEC shall process requests for on request directories within 2 business days
  • Contents to Be Delivered: The Petitioning LEC shall provide any requesting customer that does not receive complete white page directory information as part of a saturation delivery with a directory that includes all omitted white pages listings. When fulfilling requests, the Petitioning LEC should not be precluded from including additional directory information (such as yellow page information) at its discretion
  • Notice to Customer: The Petitioning LEC shall notify customers of the option to obtain an on-request paper directory at no cost. The notification shall be included on or with customer bills no less than once annually until upon request delivery ceases. The notification should include information on how to request a paper directory, and the Petitioning LEC’s internet address where customers can find the online directory and a Petitioning LEC link directly to the “front of book” information
